Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice explains what McHenry County Busted Mugshots may receive when someone uses the pages, how that information is used, and when it may be shared. Using the site means accepting the practices described here. Outside services have their own policies once a visitor leaves these pages.

Information Sent Directly

Search Queries

A name, location, or other entry typed into a search box is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. McHenry County Busted Mugshots does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.

Messages and Contact Requests

An email or contact message is kept long enough to read it and reply. It is not shared outside the operating organization unless disclosure is required by law or a valid legal process.

Technical Data Collected Automatically

Like most web services, a page load can produce basic technical information:

  • IP address.
  • Browser name and version.
  • Device type and operating system.
  • Pages viewed and time spent on them.
  • Referring website, when one is supplied.
  • Access timestamps.

Cookies

Cookies may help measure how visitors use the pages and keep features working. Browser settings can block or delete them. Some functions may behave differently when cookies are disabled.

How Information Is Used

Information may be used to operate and improve the service. Common uses include keeping pages available and fast, directing a search request to the intended partner, understanding which pages are useful, finding technical problems, and showing advertising that may be relevant to a visitor.

Links to Other Services

The pages link to Sheriff and police rosters, booking and court systems, state and federal locators, news outlets, and outside search tools. The McHenry County Sheriff corrections page describes the Correctional Facility’s county-custody report, while the Sheriff FOIA page describes a separate records route. Each destination controls its own collection and use of data after a visitor clicks through. Review the destination’s privacy notice before submitting information. Other examples include McHenry Public Case Access and the IDOC inmate search.

Some advertising partners may measure activity across different websites for targeted advertising. That tracking occurs on the partner’s systems, not as a promise that McHenry County Busted Mugshots controls those systems.

Who May Receive Information

Personal information is not sold by the operator. It may be available to the following categories when needed to provide the service or comply with law:

  • Search partners that handle a submitted query.
  • Analytics providers that measure page use.
  • Advertising networks and their service providers.
  • Law-enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order.

Security Limits

Reasonable standard security practices are used, but no internet-connected service is completely secure. The operator cannot promise that information will be immune from every breach, attack, error, or unauthorized access.

Visitors Under 18

The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent personal information, a parent or guardian may use the Contact Us route to ask that it be deleted.

Your Choices and Data Rights

Depending on the information held and the law that applies, a person may ask to:

  • Receive a copy of personal information held.
  • Correct information that is wrong.
  • Request deletion.
  • Opt out of certain processing.

Requests can be sent through Contact Us. A request sent to a linked Sheriff, police, court, IDOC, BOP, ICE, news, or search service must go to that organization instead.

Changes to This Notice

This notice may be revised as the service, partners, or law changes. A new version will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use after an update means the revised notice applies.

Effective date: August 21, 2026.
